The Northern Virginia Chapter AIA awarded this small farm tenant house with a design award for its striking form on a Rappahannock County mountainside.

The goal was a small, economical tenant house that would overlook portions of the farm not visible from the main farmhouse. The passive solar design was developed to provide nearly all of the heating requirements with a small wood stove to warm the mornings.
