SPRINGFIELD GUEST HOUSE

Springfield Farm, Middleburg, VA called upon J. Tucker to tackle an interesting project - convert an old farm ice house and milk cooling barn into a guest house for the modern farm.

The ice house, with 2-foot thick fieldstone walls, and a wood frame hay loft upper floor, was converted into a guest house that includes a sitting room, dining area and kitchenette with two bedrooms in the old hay loft.

Replacing the milk cooling parlor is new south facing covered terrace with views of the surrounding farm fields and ponds.

Hidden beneath the back of the goat shed we found a freestanding fieldstone wall which was saved after removing the shed to help shield the guest house from an adjacent road.
